During the past week Newhall (Zone 6) had seven reported Part-1 crimes. Newhall saw two petty thefts from unlocked vehicles, one assault, one grand theft, one commercial burglary, one vehicle burglary, and one petty theft.
A victim reported that on Tuesday, 01/08/2013, at approximately 8:45 a.m. she left her vehicle unlocked and parked in the area of the 24300 block of Lyons Avenue. The victim reported her purse was stolen off the back seat of the vehicle (ref -00435).
A victim reported that during the late night hours of Friday, 01/11/2013, he left his vehicle unlocked and parked in the 24600 block of Peachland Avenue. Items stolen from the unlocked vehicle included a chainsaw, binoculars, a Garmin GPS, and a first aid kit (ref -00523).
An assault with a deadly weapon occurred on Friday, 01/11/13, at approximately 11:30 p.m. This assault is alleged to have taken place in the 24900 block of Walnut Street. Two victims were involved in a fight with two men. A miniature baseball bat was used in the assault. This assault is being handled as a gang-related incident between two rival gangs who had ongoing issues. The case is currently assigned to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station COBRA unit. No further information is available, and the investigation is ongoing (ref-00509).
