Bangor man arrested for field hockey stick assault, police say

BANGOR, Maine — A local man used a field hockey stick to beat a woman at an Acadia Place residence Wednesday night, then called police and told them he had been attacked, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Thursday.

When investigating officers found Christopher Stone, 29, without a mark on him and talked to witnesses, they determined that “Stone was the aggressor, and had assaulted a female about the upper torso and head with the field hockey stick,” the sergeant said in a press release.

Officer Jim Dearing “also learned that during the assault Stone had run inside the house of his ex-girlfriend’s,” he said. “She has a protection order against Stone.”

Stone was arrested shortly after his 12:45 p.m. 911 call and charged with felony aggravated assault as well as carrying a concealed weapon and violating a protection order, Edwards said.

“Stone called 911 and told the dispatcher that he was attacked by two men and a woman at a home on Acadia Place and that the three had knives and brass knuckles,” the sergeant said.
