Spring hasn’t officially arrived yet, but tournament time has definitely hit the scene.
One of the top charity events of the season takes place March 11 when the ninth annual Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina tournament is held on the Tom Fazio-designed Pinehurst No. 8 Course.
This event has raised more than $225,000 to benefit children over the past eight years through golfers, sponsors and auctions.
The legendary Peggy Kirk Bell is honorary chair for this year’s tournament.
There will be coffee and pastries provided by Starbucks before the shotgun start, an on-course lunch courtesy of Golden Corral, and a buffet awards dinner sponsored by Chili’s.
Prizes include green fees and carts for rounds at National Golf Club and Pine Needles for low gross and low net scores. Bill Smith Motors is providing a two-year lease on a Ford or Mazda for a hole-in-one on a designated par-3 hole and $1,000 cash on another.
The entry fee is $200 per player or $750 per team. For information, call Ron Jones at (910) 295-1819 or (910) 638-9965, or Carolyn Register at (910) 295-2352.
